Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has described the late trade unionist, Emma Mashinini, as a fierce fighter for workers’ rights.
Tutu attended Mashinini’s special provincial funeral in Pretoria on Saturday.
The human rights advocate died in Johannesburg on Monday at the age of 87.
Tutu has hailed Mashinini as a beacon of hope against evil forces.
“This is a fantastic tribute to a wonderful person. She was vibrant and not a coward. She stood up against a lot of evil forces and I’m proud that she was African.”
